How Wheelcrown™ works

A video demonstration of Wheelcrown™ is now available. Email us your address and we'll post you a free CD.

The concept behind Wheelcrown™ is to use cams to accurately control the stretching of wheel-studs and thus accurately control stud-tension.

With the cams on their sides the nut is tightened until it is snug.

Cams on their sides

The cams are then rotated, stretching the stud by the difference between the cams major and minor axes.

Cams standing

The cams are rotated by a removable lever.

The design of Wheelcrown™ ensures that the cams are restricted to moving from the first stop-position (where the cams are on their sides) to the second stop-position (where the cams are standing). The lever cannot be removed between these two positions.

The cams then lock into place until the lever is reattached. With the lever in place the cams may be moved back to the first stop-position and the nut easily unscrewed.

Careful design of the cams ensures:

  • Stud-tension is accurately set
  • The force required to tension studs is reduced

  • Wheel-fitting is sped up

  • Preventative maintenance is reduced
  • Wheels will not fly
